The evolution of the blazer has taken quite the path in the world of fashion. As more and more women began working outside the home, clothing reflected that change and what was once considered only a man’s piece took a new shape. That’s a lot to take in for a fashion blog, I know!
But, watching fashion reflect the changing beliefs in a society will forever fascinate me. Case in point, the blazer. This former mans territory has evolved and changed rapidly in the last 40 years. Today’s style of blazer – anything goes! (yes, even a shoulder pad version for 2017)
I love the sleek look of this navy blazer. It’s fitted and feminine while still making a power statement. I also love how it can be paired with ripped jeans as well as a skirt or dress pants.
In the fall, I like using a blazer in place of a jacket. It’s lightweight and fights the cooler morning temperatures without the added bulk of a warmer coat. But most of all I love how women took this iconic fashion piece and made it uniquely theirs. You go girl!
Here is my Regent Blazer from J.Crew! I love it! Happy shopping!
