It’s an ageless topic and an age old question. Is it okay to ask how old someone is? I’m forever curious about this when I meet people but, we’ve made it a social faux pas to even ask. Honestly, we should stop.
I’m starting to think the reason it’s not okay to ask someone their age is because the past society tended to snub getting older. Age was an irreversible downturn that no one wanted to talk about or admit. Maybe I’m crazy in my old age but, I think this social norm has taken a turn.
We are healthier, live longer and realize that age doesn’t have to slow us down. I can honestly say I’m a different person than I was in my 20’s and 30’s and I see my age as an asset and not something to hide.
What I like most about getting older is that I am a more defined person. I know what values are important to me and I’m not afraid to embrace them. These values are definitely more defined now than when I was younger.
We should get better as we age and we should be okay with admitting what those numbers are. Go ahead, ask me how old I am. I will definitly tell you.
