It happens every spring. I look in the mirror and realize it’s time to brighten up my make up to prepare for spring. Makeup tips that keep my routine simple and straightforward are my jam! I’m always happily amazed at how much a few simple changes me feel! (It’s been a very loooooong winter here)
Makeup Tip – Why Not Try a Little Pink
First of all, let’s start our makeup tips off with a little colour! Pink cheeks, lips and even a pale pink colour on your eyes are all big trends for spring. My favourite blush, eyeshadow and eye primer take just 5 minutes to apply. (because who wants to make this a major long process) Here are my some of my favourite products I’m using lots of these days.
Cream Concealer, Foundation and Lips for a Fresh Spring Look
Not getting enough moisture is one of the reasons skin looks a little dull coming out of winter. In spring, I’m constantly looking for ways to moisturize my skin and this concealer, foundation stick and lipstick all have added moisture that help hydrate my skin all day. Above all, it makes a huge difference!
Focus on the Eyes
Spending time to properly line your eyes and eyebrows make a major difference in your overall look. I want something that looks good but that fits with my overall style. I ALWAYS wear a darker eyeliner. It lines the eyes and gives more definition to the actual shape of your eye. I put on a coat of black liquid eyeliner on first, getting as close to my eyelashes or the end of my eyelids as possible. I let the liner dry and then put a second coat of eyeliner (cream based) over top. Mascara comes last and I usually apply two coats. You won’t believe difference these steps make in defining your eyes.
Contour and Frame the Face
It takes about 2 minutes more but if you have the attention span, contour powder is the coolest thing ever! You can use it to define your cheeks and frame your face. Dab a little product on the brush and then follow the line of your cheekbone to the hollow of your cheeks. You’ll instantly see a difference in the shape of your face. Play around with putting the product on your forehead, nose and chin. Depending on how much time and patience you have, contour can really go a long way towards finishing off your entire look.
What About Your Routine?
Simple changes will really brighten up your face and help you say hello to spring. If you had to leave the house wearing only one item of makeup, what would it be?
