The clam and clean space created by Beautiful Chaos is stunning! I love the white plank walls, clean lines of the roman shades and overall simplicity of patterns and textures. Smartly designed spaces create the right kind of energy in a home and if you have kids sharing a room, making sure that energy is as positive as possible could quite possibly save you from breaking up a few fights.
My daughters shared a room very similar to this. (insert a chandiler and touches of pink instead of blue and it was this exact room) The space was charming and so cute! The charmingness and cuteness ended with how the room looked.
My daughters are very different. Sharing a room wasn’t working for them and I didn’t want to see it because, their room was magazine worthy. One day after school I noticed my then 8 year-old quietly carrying laundry baskets full of her clothes into the basement. What was she doing? Turns out, she was moving into the guest room.
Her picture perfect room wasn’t a space she could relax (or even sleep) in because her roommate showered her with non-stop attention. My 5 year-old wanted to stay up late and talk, wanted to get in her bed and cuddle, wear her clothes, rearrange all of her things and all the attention was suffocating.
I laugh about it all now. (Yes, we let her permanently move to the guest room) I think it was a lesson for me on a few fronts. No matter how perfect we create a space, life has to happen, beds don’t get made, things get left out and siblings fight. In all those happenings there is the space. If it is calm and put together, maybe somehow it helps us to get it together in moments of chaos. Living is messy but, isn’t life beautiful?
